Lately, I've wanted to surround myself with Maltese culture. I've started speaking the language more. And recently I purchased a Maltese product, from a Maltese artist, Elizabeth Grech. It's a perfume, of course - if you've been to my website before you must know I'm a shameless lover and collector of fragrances. Her house is called Olentium, and the crown jewel of her collection is called Bal Baroque. It's a tribute to the history of the Maltese city Valletta. I can smell the streets and the wonderful humans who stroll them, I can smell the afternoon light, I can smell the secrets in the stones. Master Perfumer Elizabeth sent several samples of her other works too - I adore Sicilian Suede's unapologetic sexiness, I love how it waits ocean-side for someone with enough strength of character to strike up a conversation; and I love Boschetto's gentle confidence and mischievousness, its loving nod to midnight adventure. I encourage you to look the house up if you happen to be in the Mediterranean.
